Ahead of the summer cottage season, Kyrgyzstanis stocked up on seed potatoes on the marketplace

With the long May holiday weekend and the start of the summer cottage season, Kyrgyz consumers have increased their purchases of gardening, leisure, and preservation supplies on the Wildberries marketplace. According to the platform, demand in several categories has increased tenfold compared to the same period last year.

The most significant growth was recorded in the gardening segment. Sales of seed potatoes increased more than 30-fold, while demand for onions and garlic for planting rose more than 10-fold.

Kyrgyz consumers also actively purchased goods for landscaping their plots. Sales of greenhouses, shade nets, and seedling bags increased up to threefold, garden flower beds more than doubled, and plant growing kits and greenhouse accessories nearly doubled.

At the same time, interest in plant care products grew. Sales of potting soil, mulch, drainage materials, and plant ties roughly doubled.

Preparations for the season also impacted the market for gardening equipment. Sales of chainsaws on Wildberries more than tripled, while sales of trimmer blades increased by 50%. Demand for garden shredders and motorized augers doubled, while sales of cultivators nearly doubled.

Among hand tools, scythes took the lead—sales more than tripled. Sales of watering cans nearly doubled, indicating that users are actively preparing for work on their summer cottages.

In addition to gardening, Kyrgyz consumers actively purchased goods for outdoor recreation. Sales of accessories for sauna stoves increased more than fivefold, while sales of fuel briquettes and garden lounge chairs doubled. Sales of sauna goods, including mittens and headrests, doubled.

Demand for garden swings and cushions for them also increased—by about 1.5 times—while accessories for outdoor recreation on the plot rose by about two times.

Against the backdrop of the start of the canning season, sales of long-term storage foods also increased. Canned fish were purchased more than 12 times as often on the platform, and canned mushrooms—more than seven times as often. Sales of ready-to-eat meals more than tripled, and instant porridge nearly doubled.

Demand for grains, meal mixes, and coffee also increased, reflecting the trend toward living independently outside the city and convenient meal formats.

In the garden furniture segment, hanging chairs became the growth leader—demand for them increased 2.5-fold. Sales of garden tables increased by approximately 30%, and sales of lounge chairs doubled.
