A school in the capital was collecting money for repairs: a criminal case has been opened

The Bishkek Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal case regarding the unlawful collection of funds from the parents of pupils at School No. 24 in the capital.

The violations were uncovered during an inspection to verify compliance with the requirements of the presidential decree ‘On measures to ensure state guarantees for the realisation of children’s right to free school education’.

According to the supervisory authority, officials at the educational institution organised the collection of funds from parents to carry out renovation work. The total amount collected was 1,131,450 KGS.

It was established that part of the funds collected was kept at the home of one of the school’s employees.

A criminal case has been opened in relation to this matter under Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (‘Abuse of official position’).

Investigative measures are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the case and identify those involved.
