In the Talas region, the head of the Amanbayevsky aimak has been detained in connection with the illegal transfer of 60 hectares of land

The State Committee for National Security reported the arrest of the head of the Amanbayevsky aiyl aiymak in the Aitmatov district of the Talas region and a land specialist. They are suspected of abuse of office in the leasing of a 60-hectare plot of land.

According to the SCNS, in 2024, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry installed drip irrigation systems and a pool on this plot in the village of Bakayir—the project was fully funded by the republican budget.

The investigation established that the officials — the head of the aiyl aimak U.B.A. and land specialist B.S.A. — concluded a deliberately disadvantageous agreement and leased the plot to their close relatives, acting in their personal interests.

The amount of damage to the state, according to the agency's estimate, amounted to 1 million 579.98 thousand KGS.

Both suspects were detained on December 5 and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas City Police Department.
