In the initial phase, 47 kilometres of slopes will be available to tourists. This was announced on ‘Birinchi Radio’ by Askat Cholponbaev, a spokesperson for OJSC ‘Ala-Too Resort’.
In the long term, the intention is to increase the length of the slopes at ‘Zhyrgalan’ to approximately 120 kilometres. In total, around 250 kilometres of ski slopes are planned to be built across the three zones of the ‘Ala-Too Resort’ cluster.
According to him, hotels ranging from three to six storeys in height are being built on the resort’s grounds. There are also plans to open an ethno-village and small Scandinavian-style houses.
To develop the infrastructure of the ‘Ala-Too Resort’, 50 plots were previously put up for auction. Following three stages of bidding, 39 lots were sold, all of which went to domestic investors. The remaining 11 plots are set to be put up for auction once the first phase of construction is complete.
According to the authorities’ estimates, once the resort cluster has been developed, it will be able to accommodate up to 4 million tourists a year and create around 7,000 jobs.
