Thus, as part of a criminal case initiated on the grounds of ‘extortion of a bribe,’ the deputy mayor of Bishkek, ‘B.T.A.,’ was detained and placed in the GKNB's temporary detention facility upon returning part of the previously received funds in the amount of $35,000.
It has been established that the aforementioned funds were requested by B.T.A. to lobby for the interests of a foreign company in an investment project for the reconstruction of the Bishkek thermal power plant.
However, after receiving the funds, he evaded the fulfilment of the agreements previously reached within the framework of the project, citing various reasons. Work is currently underway to identify and bring to justice other persons involved.
