This is how much the tax police will cost Kyrgyz citizens

The State Tax Service (STS) has proposed the creation of a tax police force. The draft law has been published on the public review website.

According to the document, the new Tax Crime Investigation Department will investigate tax crimes, tax evasion schemes and combat the smuggling of excise goods. It will cover Bishkek, the Northern and Southern regions, and its employees will have law enforcement status and will specialise in identifying, preventing and suppressing violations in the tax sphere.

The remaining departments of the State Tax Service will retain their civilian status and continue to perform administrative functions. The special unit will also interact with customs and other law enforcement agencies, which, according to the authors of the bill, should increase the country's financial security.

According to the State Tax Service, no additional expenses will be required, as the new state agency will operate on the basis of existing tax departments. The authors of the bill noted that the civil service is financed by 3% of the previous year's tax revenue.
