05/28/2025, 14:53The Cabinet of Ministers has introduced a temporary six-month ban on the export of timber and timber products (codes 4401, 4403, 4407 of the EAEU Customs Union Commodity Classification) outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The relevant decision was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliyev.
The ban comes into force immediately and will remain in effect until the end of 2024, according to a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The restrictive measures are aimed at reducing the domestic timber deficit and preventing speculative activities on the market. This decision also serves as a strategic step in supporting the domestic processing industry.
According to analysts, such measures may be linked to an increase in illegal logging, which undermines efforts to ensure sustainable forest management.
