This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Mels Attokurov at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Budget.
According to him, the volume of sales amounted to 63 kg in 2024. The bars weighing 1, 5, 10 and 100 grams are in the greatest demand among the population.
"People buy ingots and after some time they return them to us. We sell gold at the price of the international exchange," he explained.
For comparison, 37 kilograms of gold bars were sold in 2023. In the last three years, there has been an increase in interest: if previously an average of 10-13 kilograms were sold per year, now the demand is much higher.
Mels Attokurov reminded that two years ago, President Sadyr Zhaparov urged citizens to invest in gold as a reliable asset.
