10/03/2025, 14:20Just a couple of years ago, Kyrgyzstan's spending on online games seemed modest. In 2022, payment organisations recorded only 76,400 transactions worth 32.9 million KGS. In 2023, there were even fewer payments — 72,800 — but the total amount rose to 34.8 million KGS.
However, in 2024, the situation changed dramatically. The number of transactions increased more than fourfold to 307,400, and the amount reached 242.8 million KGS. In the first half of this year, Kyrgyz citizens have already spent 196.7 million KGS on online games, of which almost 87 million were spent in the second quarter alone.
Given the global trend towards an increase in the number of gamers and the penetration of digital services that are changing the very structure of consumption, this jump can be called natural.
According to the German online platform Statista, which specialises in market and consumer data, the Central Asian region, including Kyrgyzstan, has about 9 million gamers. The average annual growth of the video game market in the region in 2024–2027 is expected to be 8.7%. At this rate, by 2027, the total volume of the video game market in Central Asia will exceed $570.7 million.
At the same time, according to a forecast by the market analytics centre 6Wresearch, the gaming console market in Kyrgyzstan will grow at an average rate of 5.7–6.3% in 2025–2029. The peak will occur in 2026 (6.37%), after which the rate will slow slightly to 5.81% by 2029.
