A 5.9% year-on-year rise in consumer prices has been recorded

In Kyrgyzstan, in January 2024, the consumer price index for goods and services stood at 100.2% compared with December 2023 and 105.9% year-on-year.

According to statistics, year-on-year price increases were recorded in both the goods and services sectors.

The goods price index in January stood at 100.3% compared with December 2023 and 105.4% compared with January last year. Within this category, food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 2 per cent year-on-year, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 10.2 per cent, and non-food goods by 10.4 per cent.

The services sector showed more pronounced growth: the index stood at 108.4% compared with January 2023, whilst remaining unchanged from December 2023.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.4% over the month and by 2% over the year, remaining the most stable category compared with other segments.

Experts note that the structure of inflation remains mixed: moderate monthly fluctuations are combined with more noticeable annual growth in certain categories, particularly in services and the non-food segment.
