Salaries in tourism are rising, but remain below the national average

The tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan is showing steady wage growth. According to official statistics, the income of workers in the industry has almost doubled over the past four years.

According to the National Statistics Committee, in 2024, the average monthly nominal accrued wage of tourism workers was 24,927 KGS, while in 2020, this figure did not exceed 10,375 KGS.

Salary dynamics in tourism (KGS):

  • 2020 — 10,375
  • 2021 — 10,731
  • 2022 — 15,735
  • 2023 — 19,552
  • 2024 — 24,927

Thus, since 2020, salaries have increased by more than 140%.

However, despite the positive dynamics, incomes in tourism remain below the national average. In 2024, the average salary in the country was 36,055 KGS, which is 11,000 KGS more than in the tourism industry.

The growth in salaries in tourism is linked to an increase in the number of foreign tourists, expanded investment in infrastructure and growth in employment. In 2024, almost 11,000 people were employed in the industry, compared to 7,200 in 2020.
