Women make up 11 per cent of the staff of the Kyrgyz Forest Service

According to the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry, women make up 11 per cent of the total number of employees in the Kyrgyz Forest Service. Despite their relative minority, they play an important but often invisible role in the development of the forestry sector.

Women are actively involved in forest protection and restoration, environmental education, working with local communities, reporting and implementation of various projects. In recent years, there has been an increased focus on gender equality, which has contributed to the growth of women's leadership in the sector. A number of forestry enterprises already have women in leadership positions and involved in decision-making.

Experts note that supporting women and developing their potential is important for sustainable management of natural resources and successful implementation of environmental initiatives.
