According to official statistics, 25,902 items of clothing were produced here in January-May this year, compared to only 2,500 items in the same period last year. This represents a more than tenfold increase.
Against this backdrop, the Zheti-Oguz district is confidently ahead of other municipalities in the region. For comparison, 6,567 items were produced in the Tyup district during the same period, 6,200 in the city of Balykchy, and only 85 in Karakol. The Issyk-Kul and Tonsky districts have completely stopped production.
In total, 38,874 units of women's outerwear were produced in the Issyk-Kul region in January-May 2025, which is 2.9 times higher than in 2024. In addition, 19,304 items of men's outerwear were produced in the region, all of which came from the Zheti-Oguz district.
Thus, the Zheti-Oguz district is rapidly becoming a key site for the production of textile products, securing its unofficial title as the textile capital of the Issyk-Kul region.
