Residents of Ak-Zhar have asked the city council to resolve issues with roads and transport

On 18 September, residents of the Ak-Zhar housing estate discussed local issues with representatives of Bishkek City Council. Key issues included the condition of roads within the estate, public transport, urban improvements, educational institutions and disputed plots of land.

The meeting took place in the Sverdlovsk district at the behest of Bishkek’s mayor, Aibek Dzhunushaliyev. It was attended by deputy mayors, Jogorku Kenesh MP Karybek uulu Ulukbek, and heads of the city council’s departments and district services.

Residents asked for the paving of internal streets to be addressed and for improvements to the road infrastructure. They also raised issues regarding the cleanliness of local areas, public transport routes, and access to schools and other educational institutions.
Separately, participants discussed disputed and seized plots of land. Following the meeting, instructions were issued to the relevant city council departments, and further measures were outlined for specific issues.

Ak-Zhar became part of Bishkek as part of the administrative-territorial reform. The city council stated that it would continue to work with residents on issues relating to the development of the newly incorporated territories.
