The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, the prosecutor's office and local government.
The villagers drew attention to the reduction in pasture land and the increase in the number of quarries, and asked for the legality of the companies' activities to be investigated and for some of them to be closed down.
«We are particularly concerned about the activities of the company KS Inter, which is extracting gravel near the village. They have also started excavations in a forest area. Our roads are being destroyed, including those leading to pastures. If they continue their work, they will reach the main asphalt road, which will be dangerous for residents», — said village resident Aizhigit Birimkulov.
Erkaiym Seytkaziev, the head of the Ysyk-Ata district, said that the company had obtained a licence to develop 17 hectares of forest land, of which 3.5 hectares are currently being worked on. Deputy Akbokon Tashanbekov stressed that, given that the GIK houses and roads in Bishkek are being built from gravel extracted from about 30 quarries in the Ysyk-Ata district, it is necessary to check the legality of the companies' activities and take measures to prevent local residents from being harmed. Deputy Ulugbek Ormonov added that a request will be sent to the prosecutor's office and the State Committee for National Security to investigate the companies that residents have complained about.
