    10 out of 10. German tour operators shared their impressions of traveling in Kyrgyzstan

    During the Destination Forum “New Prospects for Tourism Development,” Achim Werman, Executive Director of the German Travel Industry Association (DRV), described Kyrgyzstan as “10 out of 10,” noting the country's outstanding cultural and natural attractions. In his speech, he emphasized that the entire delegation had received extremely positive impressions from the trip and was now ready for long-term cooperation and the implementation of new tourism projects.

    The DRV delegation, which arrived in Kyrgyzstan on May 30, got acquainted with the main sights of the capital, from the historic center of Bishkek to modern art spaces. On the morning of May 31, the guests took a VIP train operated by the state-owned company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu to Balykchy, where they were warmly welcomed by the mayor and given a tour of the picturesque Issyk-Kul lakefront. Already at this first stop, participants noted the clean air, abundance of greenery, and hospitality of the local residents.

    Next, the tour operators visited key regions of the country:

    • Issyk-Kul: panoramic views of mountain passes and opportunities for ecotourism;

    • Osh and Jalal-Abad: rich cultural and historical heritage, colorful markets, and traditional crafts;
    • Tokmok, Chon-Kemin, and Kochkor: introduction to unique folklore traditions, craft workshops, and nature reserves.

    At each stage, the delegation was accompanied by representatives of the Tourism Development Support Fund, the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO), and GIZ, who provided information and logistical support.

    The DRV Destination Forum aims to become a platform for the exchange of experience between Kyrgyz and foreign experts, the formation of new partnerships, and the attraction of investment in the tourism sector. Following the forum, the parties intend to set up working groups to develop joint projects, including training programs for guides, the creation of standardized itineraries, and the promotion of Kyrgyzstan on the European market.
