Adybek Kasymaliyev discussed energy development with the head of the OPEC Fund

Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev held a meeting with OPEC International Development Fund President Abdulhamid Al-Khalifa.

The head of the Cabinet emphasised that the Kyrgyz economy is showing steady growth. According to him, over the past three years, the average annual GDP growth has been 9%, and in the first eight months of this year, the rate reached 11%.

Kasymaliyev recalled that the National Development Programme until 2030 is based on four key areas: industrialisation, development of the country as a regional hub, agriculture and tourism, as well as green energy.

Special attention was paid to energy security at the meeting. Kasymaliyev noted that the electricity deficit remains a challenge for Kyrgyzstan, and the strategic response to it will be the Kambarata HPP-1, one of the largest regional projects in Central Asia.

In turn, OPEC International Development Fund President Abdulhamid Al-Khalifa confirmed his readiness to expand cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the field of investment and financing of infrastructure projects.
