The assets of Kyrgyzstan’s banks have risen to 1.2 trillion KGS

In 2025, there were 22 commercial banks operating in Kyrgyzstan, 12 of which had foreign capital participation. The banking system’s total authorised capital rose from 76.9 billion to 161.5 billion KGS. The share of foreign capital participation stood at 16.5 per cent.

By the end of 2025, the banking system’s assets had reached 1 trillion 211.2 billion KGS, an increase of 48.5 per cent compared with the previous year. This growth was driven by a threefold increase in the securities portfolio, a 48.8 per cent rise in the loan portfolio, a 46.9 per cent increase in funds held in correspondent accounts with the National Bank, and a 63.1 per cent rise in other assets.

The bulk of commercial banks’ assets consists of loans, as well as funds held in correspondent accounts and deposits with other banks. These accounted for 41.9 per cent and 15.7 per cent respectively.

The growth in assets and capital indicates that the country’s banking sector continues to expand and that financial activity is on the rise.
