As explained by the company, the domain name of the website is a symbolic equivalent of an IP address, which was originally registered under the Amanbank brand. The correspondence of the domain to the company name served as a branding tool and helped increase recognition.
After Amanbank completed its reorganisation into a microfinance company, MFC Aman Credit (now OJSC MFC Abiyir Finance), the Amanbank brand ceased to exist. As a result, the domain name lost its value for the successor, as the new brand operates under a different name.
‘The domain was not sold — it simply remained with the registrar, who, by law, can put it up for sale if a buyer is found,’ the company notes.
Apparently, the domain attracted the interest of a third-party bookmaker company, which uses it to redirect to its own platform.
We would like to add that, as of today, MFC Aman Credit appears to have regained ownership of the domain name amanbank.kg. However, the home page states that the company's official portal can be found at amancredit.kg (which is currently under development).
As a reminder, in 2024, Amanbank's shareholders decided to transform the credit institution into a microfinance company. In June, the bank received the appropriate licence, after which it was removed from the register of banking institutions authorised to conduct operations in national and foreign currency.
