Amangeldiev: Kyrgyzstan's trade volume with SCO countries has more than doubled over the past five years

Kyrgyzstan’s trade volume with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has more than doubled over the past five years. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev at the 27th meeting of the SCO Business Council.

According to him, strengthening economic ties among the organization’s member states contributes to the expansion of trade, the implementation of investment projects, and the development of transportation and logistics infrastructure.

“Between 2021 and 2025, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with SCO countries more than doubled. From January through April 2026, this figure exceeded $3.7 billion,” Amangeldiev noted.

He emphasized that this trade growth is taking place against the backdrop of Kyrgyzstan’s sustained economic development. By the end of 2025, the country’s gross domestic product growth exceeded 11%, and this high growth rate has continued into the current year.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, large-scale infrastructure projects play a key role in further expanding trade and economic cooperation. In particular, the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is of strategic importance for the region.

“The project will help strengthen the region’s transport connectivity and create new opportunities for trade, attracting investment, and developing industrial cooperation,” he said.

Daniyar Amangeldiev also noted the need to develop direct dialogue between the business communities of the SCO member states and emphasized the role of the organization’s Business Council as an effective platform for business interaction.

In his view, the decisions adopted following the meeting should help launch new joint projects, expand mutual trade, and further strengthen economic partnerships among SCO member states.
