This initiative was proposed by Farhodshokh Rahmonalizod, Chair of the Tajikistan National Section of the SCO Business Council, at a meeting of the organization’s Business Council in Bishkek.
According to him, the SCO region remains a key focus of Tajikistan’s foreign economic policy. By the end of 2025, SCO member states accounted for 75% of the republic’s foreign trade turnover.
Rahmonalizod noted that against the backdrop of the global economic transformation and the emergence of new trade routes, transport connectivity is taking on strategic importance.
“Our specialized committee on transport and logistics proposes implementing a pilot project on one of the selected routes to conduct a practical assessment of its effectiveness, analyze costs, delivery speeds, and the impact of customs procedures on the competitiveness of transport operations,” Rakhmonalizod stated.
He noted that the development of transport corridors is becoming particularly relevant amid the transformation of international transport flows. According to the Tajik side, the results of the pilot project will help identify existing barriers and determine the measures needed to improve the efficiency of transport between SCO member states.
Rakhmonalizod also recalled that the working group on transport and logistics, led by the Russian side, is already actively working on issues of transport integration. Specifically, this involves revitalizing the Agreement among SCO member states on creating favorable conditions for international road transport, which was signed back in 2014 but has not yet been fully implemented.
To further develop cooperation, Tajikistan proposed holding the next meeting of the working group on transport and logistics in Istanbul on the eve of the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in October of this year. At the same time, it was proposed to organize a specialized exhibition, “SCO Translogistics,” where countries could showcase their transport capabilities and infrastructure projects.
