The key theme of the forum is ‘Meeting global electricity demand with clean and sustainable alternatives.’
At the plenary session ‘The Role of Governments, Enterprises and Organisations in the Energy Transition,’ Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, emphasised that the EAEU countries adhere to a balanced approach, namely that the development of renewable energy sources should go hand in hand with a reliance on time-tested traditional types of generation.
‘Today, one of the most balanced and sustainable solutions in the energy sector is a harmonious combination of traditional and renewable energy sources. Only such an approach can ensure national and global energy security,’ Kozhoshev noted.
In addition, on the sidelines of the conference, the EEC Minister held a meeting with GEIDCO Chairman Xin Bao'an. The parties discussed cooperation in the following areas:
Following the talks, a protocol was signed, confirming the agreement on practical cooperation, in particular, the exchange of experience, the introduction of best international practices and the promotion of a ‘clean’ energy policy.
GEIDCO is an international organisation with a permanent office in Beijing that promotes sustainable energy development, global energy system integration and the UN's Sustainable Energy for All initiative.
