Azerbaijan may begin supplying diesel to Kyrgyzstan

In Baku, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev held talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov. The parties focused on developing cooperation in the energy sector, Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the Caspian Green Energy Corridor initiative, and expanding the supply of petroleum products.

The Kyrgyz side proposed exploring the possibility of joining the Green Energy Corridor project, noting the country’s high hydropower potential and its role in regulating the Central Asian Unified Energy System. Participation in the initiative is estimated to strengthen the stability of ‘clean’ energy supplies in the region.

A separate discussion focused on the electricity supply for the tourist complex that Azerbaijan is developing on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. The parties also considered the prospects for increasing diesel fuel supplies to Kyrgyzstan in cooperation with SOCAR.

Furthermore, Bishkek invited the Azerbaijani side to participate in the meeting of SCO energy ministers, which will take place on 18–19 June 2026 in Bishkek, as well as in an international energy exhibition.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to expand cooperation in the fields of energy, infrastructure and fuel supplies, including the development of green energy projects and cross-border power systems.
