Which lorries will be banned from driving during the day in hot weather?

Summer restrictions on heavy goods vehicles have been introduced on Kyrgyzstan’s roads. According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, from 1 June to 1 September 2026, lorries with a maximum gross weight of over 18 tonnes will be temporarily restricted from using public roads.

The restriction will apply on days when the air temperature rises to 28 degrees or higher. In such cases, heavy goods vehicles will be prohibited from driving between 10:00 and 20:00. The measure is aimed at preserving the road surface and extending the service life of roads during the hot season.

Passenger transport, vehicles carrying humanitarian aid, carriers of perishable goods and dangerous goods, as well as vehicles transporting oversized loads under special permits, are exempt from the restrictions. An exception is also made for road organisations and contractors carrying out road construction, reconstruction and maintenance work.

Compliance with the restrictions will be monitored by mobile teams from the Department of Land and Water Transport at transport control posts and other sections of the road.
