09/11/2024, 09:26On September 10, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, held a working meeting with Nenad Popović, the Serbian Government Minister responsible for developing relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), at the EAEU headquarters. During the discussions, the two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on international issues and explored the prospects for further developing trade and economic cooperation between EAEU countries and Serbia under the existing Free Trade Agreement. Specifically, Bakytzhan Sagintayev highlighted the agreement's provisions for discussing current mutual trade issues during Joint Committee meetings dedicated to the Agreement's implementation. "I am convinced that we have much to discuss, update, and develop even more effective conditions for the business communities of our countries," noted the Chairman of the EEC Board, emphasizing that increasing trade turnover is the strategic goal of the current Agreement. Both parties considered practical ways to increase trade turnover between EAEU member states and Serbia, agreeing to facilitate the creation of optimal conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation. Additionally, Bakytzhan Sagintayev invited Nenad Popović to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum, scheduled to take place on September 30 - October 1 in Yerevan. The Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, on one side, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other, was signed on October 25, 2019, and came into force on July 10, 2021. "I am convinced that we have much to discuss, update, and develop even more effective conditions for the business communities of our countries," reiterated the Chairman of the EEC Board, stressing that increasing trade turnover is the strategic goal of the current Agreement.
