The free replacement of driver's licenses in Kyrgyzstan is coming to an end

President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree concluding the temporary national campaign for the free replacement of driver’s licenses. Over 370,000 drivers took advantage of this service.

This involves replacing old driver’s licenses issued without an expiration date with the new 2025-model licenses. The decision was made to streamline the system for tracking and registering drivers.

Starting April 1, license replacement will incur a fee. According to previously announced data from relevant authorities, the state fee will be 1,889 KGS. However, until the end of 2026, drivers will be able to replace their old licenses without providing a medical certificate, that is, through a simplified procedure.

The decree also stipulates that citizens who submitted applications for replacement by March 31, inclusive, will be served under the previous, free terms, regardless of the date of actual receipt of the documents.

The State Center for Vehicle and Driver Registration under the Presidential Administration will continue to oversee the license replacement process. The agency has been tasked with providing informational support and submitting a final report on the campaign’s results. A separate report will be prepared by the state agency “Kyzmat.”
