Without formal employment: the State Tax Service explains how not to lose pensionable service

The State Tax Service has clarified the procedure for the voluntary payment of insurance contributions by citizens who are not formally employed. An insurance policy can be taken out either at a tax office or online.

The State Tax Service has reminded the public that citizens without formal employment may pay insurance contributions voluntarily. To do so, they must take out an insurance policy at a tax office or via their personal taxpayer account.

The minimum contribution rate is 8 per cent, 10 per cent or 3 per cent of the average monthly wage, depending on the payer’s category and the option chosen. Payments can be made either for the current month or in advance for several months at a time.

You can check details of the insurance contributions you have paid via the Social Fund or the ‘Tündük’ app. Payments can be made via banks, payment terminals, e-wallets, online banking and by QR code.

The State Tax Service has published clarifications in response to enquiries from members of the public regarding the voluntary payment of insurance contributions and the procedure for making such payments.

The voluntary payment of insurance contributions allows citizens who are not in employment to build up pension entitlements and have their insurance record recognised.
