Bishkek and Islamabad intend to expand cooperation in the economic, cultural, and youth sectors

A meeting was held at Bishkek City Hall between the capital’s mayor, Aibek Junushaliyev, and the Chief Commissioner (Mayor) of Islamabad and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, Sohail Ashraf.

The parties discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Bishkek and Islamabad within the framework of the sister-city relationship established in December 2025.

Aibek Junushaliyev emphasized that the partnership between the cities should not be merely formal but should also contribute to the implementation of specific joint projects and initiatives.

The meeting participants paid special attention to issues of cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, and youth policy. In particular, the head of Bishkek proposed exploring the possibility of Pakistani youth participating in the Delphic Games and the “Nariste” international festival held in Kyrgyzstan.

Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner, Sohail Ashraf, noted that this was his first visit to Bishkek. According to him, the capital of Kyrgyzstan made a positive impression on him thanks to its natural landscape, as well as the noticeable changes and dynamic development of the city over the past three years.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further strengthening of friendly relations and the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Bishkek and Islamabad.
