More than half of the wine imported into Kyrgyzstan comes from Uzbekistan

Between January and May 2026, Uzbekistan accounted for more than 58 per cent of all natural grape wine imported into Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, the total volume of wine imports into the country fell by 9.5 per cent, according to data from the National Bank.

Over the five-month period, Kyrgyzstan imported 555,800 litres of wine worth $1.35 million. A year earlier, the volume of imports stood at 613,900 litres, with a value of $1.6 million. Wine imports, in monetary terms, fell by 15.7%.

Uzbekistan became the largest supplier of wine to Kyrgyzstan. 325,000 litres of wine were imported from that country, worth 16.1 million som, accounting for 58.5 per cent of total wine imports. Compared with the same period last year, supplies from Uzbekistan rose by 2.6 per cent in volume terms and by 5.8 per cent in value terms.

Spain took second place in terms of supply volume, with 41,800 litres of wine imported from there at a cost of 12.9 million soms. However, compared with last year, the volume of Spanish wine imports fell by 41.9%.

Lithuania showed the most significant growth among major suppliers: wine imports from this country increased 2.3-fold — from 14.5 thousand to 34 thousand litres. In monetary terms, imports increased almost threefold.

A significant decline was recorded for Russia: the volume of Russian wine imports fell from 20.4 thousand to 6.2 thousand litres, or by 69.8 per cent.
