08/28/2026, 09:42At the end of 2025, there were 32 cinemas in Kyrgyzstan. Over the course of the year, their number fell by 10, or by almost 24 per cent, according to data from the National Statistical Committee.
In 2024, there were 42 cinemas operating in the country; in 2023, 42; in 2022, 45; and in 2021, 47. By the end of 2025, there were five cinemas operating in rural areas, compared with eight a year earlier.
At the same time, the number of seats in cinemas fell. In 2025, there were 14,168 seats, which was 2,892 seats, or 17 per cent, fewer than in 2024. At the same time, cinema attendance rose: over the year, the number of visits increased from 3.7 million to 4.2 million, or by 13.5 per cent.
On average, each resident of Kyrgyzstan attended 0.63 cinema screenings in 2025, compared with 0.56 the previous year. In rural areas, the figure stood at 0.02 screenings per resident.
