The number of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia decreased by 37,000 in six months

In December, more than 798,400 Kyrgyz citizens were living abroad, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Darmankul Bakyt said at a briefing. The key trend of the year is a decrease in the number of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia by 37,000 compared to the first half of 2025.

Currently, there are about 341,094 Kyrgyz citizens in Russia. The ministry attributes the decline to stricter migration rules, changes in entry and residence procedures, and active efforts to legalize the status of migrant workers.

In addition to Russia, Kyrgyz citizens live in:

  • the United States — about 60,000 people,
  • Germany — 15,000,
  • the Republic of Korea — 12,000,
  • the UAE — 6,000 people.

The main reasons for leaving remain the same — work, education, tourism, business, and medical services.

The Ministry of Labor separately noted that the agency continues to work on informing citizens about the new rules for entering the Russian Federation, the consequences of being blacklisted, as well as expanding mechanisms for legal employment and protecting the rights of Kyrgyz citizens abroad.

According to the Ministry of Labor, there are more than 90,000 Kyrgyz citizens on Russia's “blacklist.”
