05/19/2025, 10:19The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic has granted the request of the Prosecutor General's Office and lawyer Sapar Isakov to reopen a criminal case based on newly discovered circumstances. The relevant ruling was issued on 29 April 2025.
The case concerns former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, who was previously convicted in several high-profile cases, including the reconstruction of the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant. The Supreme Court overturned all previous decisions in the Isakov case:
The criminal case has been referred back to the Sverdlovsky District Court of Bishkek for a new trial, but with a different panel of judges.
