Remittances to Kyrgyzstan have slowed – but not for long

The inflow of remittances to Kyrgyzstan in January 2026 rose by just 5.3% – following an average increase of more than 20% in 2025.

This refers to remittances from abroad, primarily from Russia — one of the key sources of income for the population. In January, growth rates slowed significantly compared with last year. However, EDB analysts believe this is a temporary phenomenon. They estimate that remittances will return to steady growth in the coming months and continue to support domestic demand in the country.

In 2025, the volume of remittances grew steadily, with average monthly growth exceeding 20%, which was one of the factors driving economic activity and growth in consumer spending.
