    Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh got their official cars back

    On 11 March, President Sadyr Zhaparov signed amendments to the law ‘On the Status of Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh’. The document was published in the official newspaper Erkin Too and came into force today.

    According to the amendments, the Cabinet of Ministers will provide deputies with official cars and logistical support. Previously, only deputies with disability group I could use official transport for work trips.

    The decision to return cars to MPs has become one of the most discussed. In 2015, the deputies of the last convocation refused from service cars in order to save the budget. In 2022, transport was allocated only to women MPs.

    The initiative to return cars to all parliamentarians in November 2024 was made by Vice-Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurbek Sydygaliev. According to him, it is necessary for more effective fulfilment of parliamentary duties.
