Up to 25 kilograms of rubbish has been removed from the waters of Issyk-Kul

In the Pristan-Przhevalsk area, around 20–25 KGS of rubbish were retrieved from the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul. Along with the rubbish, inspectors discovered an old, illegally set fishing net approximately 100 metres long.

The raid was carried out by staff from the Issyk-Kul Regional Directorate of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service. The operation was aimed at combating illegal fishing and protecting the lake’s aquatic biological resources.

The Chinese synthetic net found in the water could have continued to catch fish unchecked, even if its owners had abandoned it long ago. The net and the accumulated rubbish were removed from the water.

Another raid took place at the Ala-Archa Reservoir in the Chui Region. Inspectors checked compliance with fishing regulations and identified several offenders. Five reports were drawn up following the inspection.

They also carried out awareness-raising work with members of the public on compliance with environmental legislation and fishing regulations. The Ministry of Natural Resources called on the public to treat the country’s water resources with care.
