Growth has accelerated significantly. In 2024, exports grew by just 2.2 per cent. This refers to revenue from hosting foreign visitors — services for which they pay whilst staying in Kyrgyzstan.
The entire increase in 2025 was driven by CIS countries. Revenue from this source rose from $854.7 million to $941.7 million — an increase of $87 million, or 10.2 per cent.
At the same time, exports of tourism services to countries outside the CIS declined. Revenues fell from $161.8 million to $156.8 million – a decrease of $5 million, or 3.1 per cent. Thus, the increase in revenue from CIS countries not only drove overall growth but also offset the decline in other markets.
As a result, the CIS’s share of tourism service exports rose from 84.1 per cent to 85.7 per cent. Countries outside the Commonwealth account for around 14.3 per cent of revenue.
Over four years, the volume of exports increased approximately 7.7-fold. In 2021, it stood at $142.4 million; in 2022, at $696.4 million; and in 2023, it reached $994.4 million. The figure surpassed the billion mark in 2024.
Imports of tourism services – expenditure by Kyrgyz nationals abroad – grew more slowly in 2025, by 3.3 per cent, to $564 million. The trade surplus in this sector increased from $470.5 million to $534.5 million.
