08/31/2026, 11:24Kyrgyzstan and China intend to consolidate the development of their bilateral relations through a treaty on eternal good-neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation. The President of Kyrgyzstan announced the forthcoming signing of the document whilst welcoming the President of the People’s Republic of China, who had arrived in Bishkek to attend the SCO summit.
According to the Head of State, the treaty will create a solid foundation for the further development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
“I can say with confidence that today, cooperation between our countries has entered a new, golden era of development,” the President noted.
Particular attention was paid in the speech to economic ties and transport infrastructure. The head of state described China as Kyrgyzstan’s main trading and investment partner and emphasised the republic’s readiness to continue implementing joint projects within the framework of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.
According to him, the opening of new border checkpoints and the construction of roads and railways are enabling the two countries to revive the historic role of the Great Silk Road.
The President also expressed confidence that the implementation of China’s next five-year development plan would open up further opportunities for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
In the political part of his address, the Head of State reaffirmed his support for the One-China principle and China’s global initiatives. He also noted Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the International Mediation Organisation and the World Organisation for Cooperation on Artificial Intelligence.
The President thanked the President of the People’s Republic of China for accepting the invitation to attend the SCO summit in Bishkek, emphasising the importance of the visit for further strengthening bilateral relations.
