This has been reported by Reuters and other international media outlets.
The document is currently being finalised and is due to be approved on Thursday afternoon following the summit in Cyprus. The details of the sanctions may change before then.
According to sources, a ban on the export of certain categories of dual-use goods to Kyrgyzstan is under discussion. The preliminary list includes CNC metal-cutting machines and communications equipment, including modems and routers. Restrictions against a number of logistics companies are also not ruled out.
The sharp rise in trade flows has prompted these measures. The EU points to a significant increase in electronics shipments to Kyrgyzstan and their subsequent re-export to Russia.
If the package is approved without significant changes, European suppliers will be required to prove the end use of the products. This creates a risk of disruptions to equipment supplies and increases uncertainty for businesses.
