09/06/2026, 14:58In 2025, the inflow of foreign direct investment into the leisure and tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan totalled $87.8 million. By way of comparison, the figure for the previous year was $11.2 million. Thus, the volume of investment increased by almost 7.9 times.
The bulk of investment in 2025 came from countries outside the CIS — $78.7 million. The Netherlands was the largest investor, accounting for $63.9 million. A further $7.2 million came from the United Arab Emirates, $3.8 million from Switzerland and $1.2 million from the USA.
Among the CIS countries, Russia provided the largest volume of investment in the tourism sector – $3.6 million. Uzbekistan invested $4.4 million, and Kazakhstan – $1.1 million.
By way of comparison, in 2024 the total inflow of foreign direct investment into tourism amounted to just $11.2 million. At that time, the largest sources were the UAE ($2.2 million), Russia ($2.2 million), the US ($1.8 million) and Kazakhstan ($2.3 million).
Thus, 2025 marked a sharp turning point in the trend of foreign investment in Kyrgyzstan’s tourism sector: following a decline in investment from $49.8 million in 2022 to $11.2 million in 2024, the annual figure rose to a record $87.8 million for the period in question.
