The “Ak Ilbirs” Research and Rehabilitation Center has opened in the village of Ananyevo in the Issyk-Kul Region. It will focus on the study and conservation of snow leopards, as well as providing veterinary care and rehabilitation for wild animals.

Adylbek Kasymaliev, Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, attended the opening ceremony on October 23. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov was also present at the event.

According to Kasymaliev, the center will serve as a platform for scientific research, the restoration of rare animal populations, and the development of international cooperation in the field of nature conservation. He also thanked Minnikhanov for his support of the project.

Among the center’s main objectives are studying snow leopard populations, preserving genetic diversity, and developing measures to restore the population of this rare species. To this end, plans are in place to establish the necessary scientific, veterinary, and rehabilitation infrastructure.
