Eurocredit has gone to waste. The SCNS detained the former deputy mayor of Bishkek and others involved

The State Committee for National Security has opened a criminal case into corruption and the irrational use of funds in the implementation of a project to improve the solid waste management system and build a new landfill in Bishkek. Officials from the Bishkek mayor's office and heads of contracting companies have been detained in connection with the case.

According to the SCNS, the project was financed by loans. In 2015, the Bishkek city administration was allocated €22 million to modernize its material and technical base, purchase special equipment (bulldozers, loaders, garbage trucks, containers, etc.), as well as for the design and construction of a landfill for the municipal enterprises MP “Tazaly” and MP “Bishkek Sanitary Landfill.”

Based on the results of an audit of individual public procurement procedures, the preliminary damage to the budget caused by the use of credit funds is estimated at approximately 182 million KGS.

On January 12, as part of the investigation into the crime under Article 336 of the Criminal Code “Corruption,” comprehensive investigative and operational measures were carried out. As a result, the former deputy mayor of Bishkek, the former director of the Bishkek Sanitary Landfill municipal enterprise, and the heads of contracting companies were detained.

The detainees were placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
