12/09/2024, 16:31Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov met with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala on the occasion of the completion of her mission.
The parties discussed the economic development of Kyrgyzstan in recent years, political stability, as well as issues in the field of energy, transportation and mining.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov noted that under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov, Kyrgyzstan's economy is developing steadily, as a result of which the country's gross domestic product has increased, major projects such as the construction of Kambarata HPP-1 and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad have been implemented, and hundreds of industrial and social facilities have been put into operation. The country is gradually turning into a developed transit country.
Akylbek Zhaparov continued that it is planned to increase Kyrgyzstan's GDP to $30 billion by 2030. For this purpose, preserving territorial integrity, strengthening the unity of the people and carrying out reforms in the tax sphere have been identified as priorities. He emphasized that cooperation with the European Union plays an important role in the implementation of these plans.
In turn, the special representative of the European Union for Central Asia Teri Hakala noted that a lot of work has been done during her 3-year mission in the region. She noted that stability has been established in Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan, and expressed enthusiasm that the country is on the path of development. Special Representative Teri Hakala also emphasized that the European Union is ready for close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, focusing on areas such as education, construction and investment.
