Full-scale construction work has begun on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting with heads of relevant state and municipal agencies, as well as state-owned enterprises, to discuss the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.

He said that full-scale construction work has officially begun in our country along the entire length of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan international railway, which is 304 kilometres long.

"Let me remind you that on 29 April this year, a ceremony was held to mark the start of construction of key facilities for this railway. This project is not only important for infrastructure, but also aims to improve the quality of life, economic growth and strengthen ties between regions and peoples. In this regard, I instruct the heads of relevant state bodies to promptly resolve emerging issues on the ground and report back to the presidential administration in a timely manner," Bakyt Torobaev said.

During the meeting, more than ten issues arising in the construction process were considered, and relevant instructions were given to the relevant state agencies for their prompt resolution.

It should be noted that the length of the railway section passing through the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic is more than 304 kilometres, and the total cost of construction is estimated at $4.7 billion. This project is one of the most complex engineering structures: about 40% of the railway tracks will pass through tunnels and bridges — 27 tunnels and 41 bridges are planned to be built. All work is scheduled to be completed by 2030.
