During a field trip to the Issyk-Kul region, the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction familiarised itself with the activities of the state-owned enterprise National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu.

Deputies Baktybek Sydykov, Talant Mamytov, Mederbek Sakkaraev, Baktybek Choybekov, led by committee chairman Muradil Sydykov, travelled with passengers in a refurbished carriage on the Bishkek 2-Balyky railway route, during which the deputies talked to passengers and inspected the carriages.

This year, the state-owned company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu modernised two more carriages, bringing the total number of high-comfort carriages in the train to six. In 2024, the company transported 9.2 million tonnes of freight and 271,600 tonnes of passengers. This year, the Balykchy Beach stop will be put into operation for the first time, allowing passengers to reach the beach by train. This will create additional convenience for tourists.

The committee members inspected the progress of construction work on the Balykchy-Kochkor railway. According to the head of the state-owned enterprise, Azamat Sakiev, work is underway on the Balykchy-Kochkor section between kilometres 30 and 44 of the project, including the installation of water pipes and drilling and blasting work. In addition, 37 kilometres of railway track have been completed, and work is underway to deliver ballast, rails and sleepers to the 38th kilometre. The estimated cost of constructing the 63-kilometre Balykchy-Kochkor railway is 9 billion 472 million soms.

Muradil Sydykov, Chairman of the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction, noted that in recent years, the Kyrgyz Temir Zholu company has been creating good conditions for passengers by renewing its rolling stock.

«Comfortable conditions have been created for passengers. The construction of the Balykchy-Kochkor railway is proceeding at a rapid and active pace, and it is gratifying that the construction is being carried out at the expense of the enterprise's own funds», — said the deputy.

In turn, Deputy Baktybek Sydykov emphasised that the Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state-owned enterprise plays a key role in the economic and social development of the country.
The committee members also familiarised themselves with the condition of the Bishkek 2 and Balykchy railway stations and visited a hostel built for workers in the Kochkor district.
