Farmers have increased wheat and barley production

In January–August 2026, the output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Kyrgyzstan reached 298.3 billion KGS. Compared with the same period last year, this represented a 6.4 per cent increase.

The main driver of growth was crop production, which increased by 10.0 per cent. The production of cereal crops saw particularly significant growth: barley output rose by 55.7 per cent and wheat output by 54.6 per cent.

In the fruit and vegetable sector, the production of fruit and berries rose by 5.3 per cent, whilst that of potatoes increased by 8.5 per cent. Livestock production rose by 4.0 per cent. Meat production increased by 3.9 per cent, milk production by 2.2 per cent, and wool production by 0.5 per cent.

Egg production stands out in particular – its volume increased by 23.2 per cent compared with January–August 2025. Agriculture’s contribution to GDP amounted to 0.51 percentage points, whilst the sector’s share of GDP reached 7.4 per cent.
