03/27/2026, 15:16Talks were held today in Bishkek between the State Development Bank of Kyrgyzstan and the Silk Road Fund of the People’s Republic of China. The parties discussed attracting investment and launching joint projects in key sectors of the economy.
A working meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, chaired by Deputy Minister Mederbek Tumanov and attended by a delegation from the Silk Road Fund of the People’s Republic of China led by Executive Vice-President Xi Cibo. The main topic of the talks was the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and the attraction of Chinese investment into the country’s economy.
The State Development Bank presented the current state of its activities and outlined prospects for further growth. Particular attention was paid to mechanisms that would enable the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with international partners.
The Chinese side was invited to consider a number of investment projects in priority sectors. These include energy, including the construction of small hydropower stations, mechanical engineering and agriculture. These areas are regarded as key to Kyrgyzstan’s sustainable economic development.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in deepening their partnership. An agreement was reached to move on to the practical elaboration of the initiatives presented, which could be the next step towards launching specific investment projects in the country. and agreed to commence detailed evaluations of the outlined initiatives and projects.
