The Prosecutor General’s Office has uncovered irregularities in the provision of haemodialysis services: the loss to the state exceeded 226 million KGS

The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened a criminal case into irregularities in the provision of state-funded haemodialysis services.

Numerous breaches of the law were uncovered during the investigation. In particular, it was established that inaccurate data had been entered into medical records and the ‘Haemodialysis’ computerised information system.

According to the chief supervisory authority, the system recorded instances of procedures being documented for patients after their deaths, as well as for citizens who were outside Kyrgyzstan during that period.

Furthermore, it was found that it was technically impossible to carry out several haemodialysis procedures simultaneously on a single ‘artificial kidney’ machine.

It was also established that certain private healthcare organisations were providing services in excess of the capacity specified in their licences.

As a result of the identified violations, the state suffered losses amounting to 226,967,000 KGS.

A criminal case has been opened in this regard against a number of officials on the grounds of offences under Articles 336 (‘Corruption’) and 348 (‘Negligence’) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Investigative proceedings are currently ongoing.
