According to the SCNS, the land in the Sary-Ozon ayak district was illegally used for the benefit of the former deputy head of the Sokuluk district, R.I.A., and the chairman of the Niva agricultural cooperative, A.M.D. The latter, as specified, was a close confidant of the former official.
In addition to the use of land, a grain warehouse, production facilities, and storage premises were illegally privatized. The investigation also revealed that R.I.A. and his relatives owned 54 real estate properties, including apartments in elite buildings in Bishkek, commercial premises, and a cottage in Issyk-Kul.
A criminal case has been opened on corruption charges. On May 21, the Oktyabrsky District Court ordered both suspects to be remanded in custody. Work is currently underway to recover the damages and return the property to state ownership.
