02/27/2026, 14:05On February 26, during a working visit to London, Melis Turgunbaev, Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, met with Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England. The talks took place at the headquarters of the British regulator.
The parties discussed current issues of monetary policy in the UK and Kyrgyzstan, and exchanged views on maintaining financial stability in the face of global economic challenges.
Particular attention was paid to the development of payment systems and the digital transformation of the financial sector. The heads of the central banks discussed current trends in regulation and the introduction of technological solutions in the banking sector.
The Bank of England acts as the mega-regulator of the UK financial system, including prudential supervision through the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), overseeing the activities of banks, insurance and investment companies.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in expanding their partnership and noted the potential for further strengthening bilateral cooperation between central banks.
