Inflation in Kyrgyzstan jumped to 9.6%

At its February meeting, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic raised its policy rate by 100 basis points to 12% amid accelerating inflation. This was reported by analysts at the Eurasian Development Bank.

Since May 2025, consumer prices have remained above the target range of 5-7%, and as of 13 February, annual inflation reached 9.6%.

‘Stronger domestic demand is pushing up prices, real wages grew by 9.9%, and consumer lending increased by 67.2% in 2025,’ the analysts write.

The policy rate hike is aimed at curbing inflationary pressures and stabilising the purchasing power of the KGS.
